Big Dog Stainless Steel Collar

I can't say enough good things about this collar and lock. They’re great. I bought the largest size, but the 20in would have been inescapable - but weight was my primary interest. My head is almost exactly 24in in circumference and I can only escape without the key just barely because my hair is extremely short and the lock seems to give 10mm or less additional slack. The polished lock weighs 2.12 +/- 0.0035oz. My 24in chain weighs 19.2oz +/- 1.6oz and has 34 links. Each link covers 0.75in and weighs 0.56 +/- 0.1oz respectively. This means the 20in chain which has about 26 or possibly 27 links, weighs about 14.7oz +/- 1.65oz. The 18in chain pictured has exactly 24 links and weighs 13.55oz +/- 1.6oz. So I think all three options perhaps besides the 18in collar are heavier than the stated 12.8oz in the description. However 12.8 oz is likely the more accurate advertised weight of the 18in collar as it falls well within my wider tolerance using a scale only accurate to 0.1lbs. The chains too heavy for my gram scale. So the 24in collar is pretty heavy, at about 21.32oz or 1.333 +/- 0.1lbs with the included lock. Any option is going to be at least twice as heavy as any others besides the raw dog collar which is probably the same weight. This collar though has the luxurious benefit of being highly polished so, it’s actually more like a high security piece of jewelry as others noted. The steel links remind me of gently agitating mankala stones/gems, which are made of smooth glass. It's wild.

I collared my boy D with this and he finds the heft and weight of it to be satisfying. Not too heavy, just the right weight to be a constant reminder of who we are to one another. From my standpoint it looks fantastic on him and gives me quite a proprietary rush to see him out in public with it on. Locking it on him was a deep emotional experience for us both.

This is by far my favorite collar to wear. Less intrusive than my 2" solid steel collar, but more substantial than my light-weight chain collars. When Sir grabs my collar I am immediately attentive as the collar is not forgiving at all. It is a very pleasant weight and very attractive.
